e-newsletter - 4th edition - June 2006

Editorial

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Matthias Schaub, a new St.Gallen representative at the Swiss House Singapore. Mr. Schaub will be promoting the University of St.Gallen as well as the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland while doing his PhD in Singapore. This new St. Gallen implementation underlines the tight cooperation with the Swiss House and opens the way for many fruitful collaborations.

The other St.Gallen representation at the Swiss House, the Asia Centre Singapore, is pleased to offer students in Business and Economics from Switzerland the opportunity to attend a Study Trip in Southeast Asia (Singapore – Indonesia). We look forward to welcoming many students to this outstanding program, allowing international exposure to an Asian region with cultural diversity.

Switzerland is fully integrated in the European R&D and Higher Education initiatives and programs, and in this context the Swiss House is actively participating in events set up by the Delegation of the European Commission in Singapore. “Discover Europe” held in October at the Singapore Management University will allow you to have a taste of European studying opportunities, among other European domains of excellence.

I hope you could attend at least one of the outstanding presentations given by Swiss astronaut Professor Claude Nicollier from May 23rd to May 27th in Singapore. Professor Nicollier addressed a variety of publics ranging from students to the academic and business community and shared his experience of space exploration through inspiring talks and breathtaking pictures.

I wish you a good reading of our newsletter, and look forward to welcoming you soon at one of the Swiss House Singapore events.

Dr. Suzanne Hraba-Renevey
Executive Director
