Singapore-Indonesia Study Trip for students from Switzerland
6 – 15 August 2006

In cooperation with the Swiss House Singapore, the Asia Centre Singapore of the University of St.Gallen is pleased to offer students in Business and Economics the opportunity to attend a Study Trip in Southeast Asia (Singapore – Indonesia). The aim is to equip participating students with the international exposure to an Asian region with cultural diversity.

This trip serves as a first introduction to Asia and allows students to be exposed to various aspects of Asian culture, history, business and management. Furthermore, the differences between a highly-developed Singapore and a newly-developing Indonesia will be highlighted, and their rather different approaches to multiculturalism will be explored.

The following major themes will be covered during this trip:

  • Presence of multinational companies – among others those with Swiss background – in Indonesia and Singapore and their cross-cultural management experience.
  • Education and infrastructure development in the region as the key ingredients for its economic growth.
  • Comparing multicultural society in two different Southeast Asian countries and the role of overseas Chinese.
  • Understanding historical and cultural context of Singapore and Indonesia through visits of cultural tourist sites.

All students who are interested in business and economics in Asia are welcomed. For further information, please kindly e-mail Agung.Wicaksono@unisg.ch.
