The Singapore International Water Week is a global platform and a major trade exhibition, showcasing a comprehensive range of services and products as well as new technologies of the entire water value chain.

The top industry leaders, experts, policy leaders and practitioners from different countries get together and can share information about ideas and solutions for one of the biggest issues nowadays: the water challenge. In 2009, more than 10,000 attendees from over 85 countries and regions visited the second water week and over S$2.2 billion worth of deals were signed and sealed during the event.

This year’s main topic ‘Sustainable cities – Clean and affordable water’ focuses on the need for efficiency in our water solutions to address water. As urbanization gains momentum, there is an urgency to address water shortage issues before the situation deteriorates further and poses a risk to economic growth.

The event’s flagship programs comprise a Water Leaders Summit as a World Cities Summit that brings together practitioners and policy makers with leading experts in their field to identify innovative solutions to the most pressing challenges facing cities today. Furthermore a Water Convention, Business Forums, the Water Expo and the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize, that honors outstanding contributions towards solving global water problems by either applying technologies or implementing innovative policies and programs which benefit humanity.
